IELTS exam – 2026
About Course
The IELTS exam is a 2-hour and 45-minute test with a maximum band score of 9. The IELTS syllabus consists of four sections: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
Candidates can choose between two types of IELTS tests. IELTS Academic is designed for students who plan to study at a university or college, while IELTS General Training is suitable for those applying for migration or work visas. It is important to note that the Listening and Speaking sections are the same for all candidates, whereas the Reading and Writing sections differ depending on the test type.
In the IELTS exam pattern, candidates answer 40 questions each in the Listening and Reading sections. The Writing section requires candidates to complete two tasks within 60 minutes. The Speaking test is conducted as a face-to-face interview with an examiner.
The IELTS syllabus 2026 is designed to assess the use of English in real-life situations. Understanding the complete syllabus helps candidates prepare effectively and achieve a higher IELTS band score.
